The first batch of luxury Maybach 57 cars has arrived in the
Middle East.
Ten vehicles, worth
about $4 million, for delivery to VIP
customers in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar,
Bahrain and Oman touched down at Sharjah
Airport aboard a Lufthansa jumbo jet.
In a separate shipment,
five Maybach 57 cars worth $2 million
arrived in Saudi Arabia to record the
official debut of the marque in the
region.
The arrival of the
vehicles will be followed by an official
Middle East launch tour.
"Maybach is a
unique product in the super luxury segment
that combines the latest technology
with the utmost refinement," said
Steffen Baumann, sales and marketing
director, Mercedes-Benz Car Group. |
"The first Maybach
cars were extremely well received and
we have high expectations for this region.
We will sell and deliver about 160 cars
this year, about treble the current
segment numbers making us one of the
main sales areas worldwide."
Baumann anticipates
sales to split roughly 60:40 in favour
of the Maybach 57 model against the
Maybach 62, which will arrive in the
region later this year.
"Some 40-50 per cent of our sales
will come from Saudi Arabia, 30 per
cent from the UAE, Kuwait will take
10 per cent and the remaining percentage
will come from Qatar, Oman, Bahrain
and Lebanon.
"Maybach breaks the mould by redefining
luxury for the discerning customer just
as it did in the 1920s and 1930s when
the marque was the pinnacle of automotive
excellence," Baumann said.
