Sharjah Airport Authority
(SAA) officials are busy preparing for
the World-Asia Airports Council International
(ACI) annual 2003 conference, which
will be held in Sharjah, later this
year. The conference, to be held at
the Sharjah University City Hall from
Dec.5-8, is organized by Sharjah Airport
Authority in co-ordination with ACI
Geneva.
The Organizing committee
of the conference held its fourth meeting
recently where the latest arrangements
were discussed. The members agreed on
setting up sub committees and teams
to undertake a host of tasks including
identifying prospective sponsors.
“The event will benefit all members
and participants where the objectives
can be achieved by exchanging ideas
and tackling the latest challenges to
the industry,” said Dr Ghanem
Al Hajri, director general Sharjah Airport
Authority.

He expressed optimism
that the conference would be successful
and instructed the organizing committee
to provide every possible assistance
to the delegates.
The committee has
decided to delegate jobs to the various
sub-committees to ensure the success
of the event. In line with promoting
Sharjah as a tourist destination especially
for visitors from Europe, the airport
will organize a number of heritage,
cultural and other related activities
for the delegates, their families and
those accompanying them.
The members also discussed arrival arrangements
for the delegates and exhibitors. Due
to the magnitude of the event, the committee
has decided to seek the co-operation
of other airports especially in setting
up counters to assist delegates arriving.
Around 600 delegates from around the
world are expected to attend the annual
conference.
