Sharjah International Airport received the first flight in the new arrival hall on the 15th of August. Passengers landed with the Air Arabia flight ABY G9 122 from Kuwait and were welcomed by the airport's staff with red roses. Several officials were there to welcome the first passenger including Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri Director General Dept. of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority,Airport directors, representatives from the airport police, airport immigration, airport customs, DUFRY, |
Bin Laden group (contractor for the project), GHD-the consultants and designers of the phase, Projacs-the project management company and other airport's clients were also present.
The arrival hall space has been increased from 90 square meters to 500 square meters and is one phase of Sharjah International Airport Expansion project which when completed will accommodate 8 million passengers annually. |
