SHARJAH : Lufthansa Cargo will be celebrating   the  fifth  year  of  its establishment  of  the  hub  in Sharjah on November 22.



The Sharjah hub is Lufthansa's second largest hub next to the Frankfurt main base. The worldÆs largest freight services provider set up its Sharjah hub on May 1, 1993. Then the airline had operated 60 flights a month and handling roughly about 2,500 tons of cargo. After five years, it has seen significant improvement in its cargo handling.

Currently, Lufthansa carries around 9,000 tons of cargo a month, deploying 360 flights, Klaus Holler, Regional Manager, the airline would increase its monthly flight operation to 400 flights and simultaneously its cargo handling would also see an increase of about 500 tons.

Lufthansa Cargo flies to some 450 destinations around the world. In order to remain market leader in the air cargo industry, Lufthansa works together with its partners to create comprehensive logistic solutions . Recently the airlines announced tie-ups with the UPS and Eva Air.
